Childbirth Education Project for Refugee and Migrant Women
The challenges of preparing to birth in a new country can be overwhelming, especially when the language and culture is different. Making informed choices about where and with whom to birth can be difficult for all women, especially so if there is a language barrier.
The focus of this innovative Childbirth Education Project for Refugee and Migrant Women is to ensure that the women understand what their options are, and are educated about their body, their choices in childbirth and what to expect in hospital or at home.
Clinic
The clinic is run Mondays and Tuesdays 8.45am – 4pm. We are actively seeking ways to transport women to the clinic to facilitate access to our service.
Mums and Bubs
Every second Monday, we will be running a mums and bubs group for all the women who have birthed on the program. This will be a means of the women getting to meet other women and still being supported post-natally by the program. They can also graduate to the It Takes A Village playgroup as their babies grow.
