Looking after baby by looking after yourself
CMWA's Mother Nurture Group runs during term time for ten weeks, currently in three centres:
Fremantle on Thursday mornings at CMWA 1/40 Pearse St North Fremantle,
Gosnells on Friday mornings at the Gosnells Lotteries House, Level 1, 2232 Albany Hwy, Gosnells
Mandurah on Wednesdays at Mandurah Community Health Centre, 112 Lakes Road Mandurah.
Making Sense of Motherhood Groups run at Joondalup Women's Healthworks.
Mother Nurture Groups are run as a closed therapeutic group for mothers and their babies in the first months of parenthood. Each group has 2 facilitators, women with special expertise in Infant-Parent relationships.
Topics covered include self nurturing activities, "tool box" of coping techniques, early parenting skills including understanding baby's communication, dealing with ambivalent emotions, challenges in partner and family of origin relationships, debriefing birth trauma, sharing stories and developing support networks.
