Our MissionTo expand the choices available to pregnant women and their families in the publicly funded health system, through provision of woman-centered, community-based midwifery services, including homebirth. To provide for the well being of the pregnant woman and her baby through a woman-centered, collaborative, community-based midwifery practice. To promote and provide continuity of care as the basis of a quality midwifery service. To encourage and empower women and their families to make informed choices about childbirth. To encourage well-founded relationships of trust between the women and families on the community midwifery program and program staff. To support indigenous women to lobby for and develop culturally appropriate models of midwifery care. To encourage debate within the community and the medical profession about appropriate models of care for pregnant and child birthing women. To act with integrity in advocating on behalf of women and their families. |
