| About Community Midwifery Western Australia Community Midwifery WA (CMWA) is a community based non-profit organisation that receives funding from the Department of Health to deliver community based midwifery services. The overall aim of CMWA is to provide and promote accessible pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting information, resources and services to people of all social, cultural and economic backgrounds. Our Values Support for the view that pregnancy and childbirth are, in the majority of cases, life events requiring minimal medical intervention. We believe birth is a significant experience for women and their families, and that this should be reflected in the model of care available for birthing, including occasions where medical intervention is indicated. Respect for women, their families, carers and the community through supporting actions that encourage capacity and responsibility for making informed decisions regarding care during pregnancy and labour. Cultivation of primary supports for holistic childbearing and early parenting processes, as an essential in maternity care for the well being of women, their families and communities. Mutual trust and respect in all internal and external organisational relationships, through building confidence, empathy and by communicating with integrity and compassion. Ongoing reflection and engagement with our staff, clients and community focused on improving our service provision. |
